A young group following an interesting artistic route. The Quartetto Bernini was trained at the school of Piero Farulli, the viola in the legendary Quartetto Italiano, and assimilated the teachings of the Melos, Amadeus, Berg, LaSalle, and Tokyo Quartets. The winners of international competitions, in 1999 the quartet was appointed as the ‘ in residence quartet ' at the Roman Philharmonic Academy. This «explosive ensemble of musicians» ( Washington Post ), that boasts recordings for Dynamic and Tactus and tours in Europe, America and the Middle East, often works with important musicians such as Bruno Canino, Rocco Filippini, Salvatore Accardo, Alain Meunier, Gerard Caussè and Arrigo Petracchi. At the Filarmonica Laudamo the quartet is accompanied by the pianist Carmelo Giudice in a programme of chamber music mingling Schumann with Šostakovic, close to the one hundredth anniversary of his death which falls in 2006. The members of the Quartetto Bernini use precious ancient musical instruments: Marco Serino plays a Nicolò Amati violin (Cremona 1661), Valeriano Taddeo a David Techler violoncello (Rome 1700).
