One of the most precocious talents in the history of jazz, Francesco Cafiso was born in Vittoria in 1989; he attended the Language High School and was about to graduate from the Bellini Musical Lycée in Catania, still to young to sign the contacts for the many concerts that saw him as the star performer in many theatres all over the world. His career began when he was nine years old with his first musical experiences playing with famous musicians such as Bob Mintzer, George Grunz, Maria Schneider and Gianni Basso. In 2001 he won the Massimo Urbani Award, showing an amazing musical maturity. The following year, at the Pescara Jazz Festival, came the important encounter with Wynton Marsalis that ed to the 2003 European Tour. Again in 2003 he won the prestigious Positano Jazz Award, that led to new experiences and important recordings for the Philology label. In 2004 came his achievements in America at the International Jazz Festivals Organization Award, where he performed in front of an immense audience of maestros and musicians. In November that same year he won the London Jazz Festival. In 2005 he played at the Auditorium Parco della Musica and at the Umbria Jazz with I Solisti di Perugia in un tribute to Charlie Parker. The Francesco Cafiso Quartet with Riccardo Arrighini at the piano, Aldo Zunino at the basso and Stefano Bagnoli at the drums, have been entrusted by the Filarmonica Laudamo with the final concert of this season.
