HESPÉRION XXI
«MUSICA PER LA PACE »

Jordi Savall: a sophisticated musician, a complete artists, an icon of ancient music and the baroque repertoire, but also a man participating in the problems of our times, as proved by his most recent project «Music for Peace. A Dialogue between ancient music and the music of the world». Bestow upon us Oh Lord, Peace in our times, because only You remain Our Lord to battle alongside us says the 10 th century anonymous song that like a spark manages to set off an enchanting itinerary through different cultures and different centuries. The Cantigas de Sancta Maria by Alfonso X el Sabio, the Llibre Vermeil de Monserrat , the Italian 14 th century dances, and also the music of Arab-Andalusia, Turkish, Sephardi, Israeli, Persian, Castilian, Berber, Afghan, and Iranian tradition; a koinè of styles with an ancient shared soul. In the score only about twenty minutes; the rest is continuous creative actions, a reconstruction of pieces in the form of improvisations in corresponding musical styles. Hence the East and the West, but also ancient and contemporary music meet in this journey for which Jordi Savall has the virtuosi from the Hespérion XXI as his companions.
