Alexander Lonquich

A pianist with a vast repertoire and unusual intellectual curiosity, Alexander Lonquich has over the years accustomed us to follow him n unusual concert scenarios, allowing us to get to know and love music we did not even know existed. Hence the refined linearity of the programme presented today, is based on a genre of the ‘prelude' and historically part of French romantic and late-romantic pianism. From Chopin's Preludes to those by Debussy, performing Book II, there is not such great chronological distance and the thesis is identical: prolegomena to words that will never be spoken ( Jankelevitc ), evocations of images that instantly challenge us in the silence and the shadows. In the second part of the concert you will listen to one of Fauré's waltzes, a series of traditional dances by Poulenc and Albéniz' Iberia, which echoes Spanish folklore with the typical style of end of 19 th century French music. In a perfectly symmetrical manner, as if travelling backwards in time, Lonquich's recital ends with composers that he started with: Debussy ( L'Isle joyeuse ) and Chopin ( Scherzo op. 54 ).
