An event with two musicians dear to audiences in Messina. Domenico Nordio has been playing in concerts since he was ten years old. At sixteen he won the “Viotti” International Competition (with the legendary Menuhin as president of the jury); he then also won the “Thibaud” in Paris, the “Sigal” in Viña del Mar, and the “Francescatti” in Marseille. In 1988 the Eurovision Grand Prix brought him instant fame with concerts all over the world, recordings for Decca, and the artistic direction of the International Violin Competition “Città di Brescia”. Giorgia Tomassi, winner of the “Rubinstein” Competition in Tel Aviv in 1992, is one of the few privileged musicians chosen by Martha Argerich for the project entitled “Argerich & Friends”. His CD with Chopin's Studies recorded for EMI was commented with the words: «An important, versatile and courageous musician, he portrays Chopin's collections as a mosaic of piano images-feelings», and his recording of Rota' Concerts for the piano with the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Riccardo Muti was met with just as much approval. Domenico Nordio plays the Guarnieri del Gesù “Ex Baron Knoop” piano (1735) owned by the Pro Canale Foundation in Milan.
