«The Bat »
Die Fledermaus [The Bat], inspired by a Parisian vaudeville composed by Henry Meilhac and Leo Halévy, is considered a masterpiece by Johann Strauss, the composer famous in history as the «king of the waltz». The plot is exciting and the music of this immensely famous operetta even more so, a symbol of the joie de vivre in fin de siècle Vienna. This production at the Vittorio Emanuele with actors, dancers and musicians and a dance company in no need of presentation, the Balletto di Napoli, is directed by Mara Fusco. Choreographies and direction are by Ricardo Nuñez, since 1999 the maitre de ballet at the Staadtheater in Berlin with lead roles played by Chiara Amodio and Fabio Molfesi, today the leading étoile in the Connecticut Ballet, also celebrating with this performance his 25 years of cooperation with the Balletto di Napoli. This is yet another attraction for this performance that, programmed for the beginning 2006, and for the Filarmonica Laudamo a sort of second inauguration of the season; music is played live by the young orchestra of the Vittorio Emanuele Theatre. The Vittorio Emanuele Theatre Orchestra. Die Fledermaus is co-produced with the E.A.R. Teatro di Messina.
