Ensemble Micrologus
«Le Jeu De Robin Et De Marion»
Micrologus was the first ensemble in Italy to
rediscover medieval music, identifying new forms
of interpretation that made this repertoire increasingly
popular and loved. The group started by researching
and studying the sources so as to base interpretation
of ancient music on realistic aesthetic hypotheses
and performance possibilities. Analysis of the
texts and historical, and iconographic investigations
as well as the study of musical instruments (which
allowed the recreation of very special musical
instruments) and comparing the written scores
with those passed down by oral tradition are all
at the basis of the group’s work, which
became real after 1984 in many performances and
many CDs. Le Jeu de Robin et de Marion
by Adam de la Halle, the last of the Troubadours,
composed in about 1284 for the Neapolitan court
of Robert D’Angiò, is the most antique
testimony of medieval theatre with music. In 2004
the group also recorded Territoires for the Zig-Zag
label in Paris, wining various international awards
such as the Choc du Monde de la Musique and
the 10 de Rèpertoire. The Filarmonica
Laudamo and Micrologus dedicate this performance
to the memory of Adolfo Broegg, founder of this
and its untiring animator.
