Wiener Kammerenensemble
The Wiener Kammerensemble was founded in 1970
by important elements of the Vienna Philharmonic
Orchestra and immediately was extremely successful
all over the world. With a repertoire initially
centred on chamber music for strings, it now also
performs in Mayr contexts and also addresses contemporary
productions. The Wiener Kammerensemble has played
in the most important musical venues in the world,
among them the Musikverein and the Opera Theatre
in Vienna, the Carnegie Hall in New York, the
Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Opera House in Sydney
and the Philharmonie di Cologne. They have participated
in many festivals (such as the ones in Vienna
and Saltsburg), recorded many radio and television
programmes and also boast many recordings. The
ensemble’s particular objective is to research
and recreate the typically Viennese sounds and
sonorities, with soft strings that mingle perfectly
with traditional wind instruments, such as the
Viennese horn. Following the Viennese spirit of
the music the programme presented at the Filarmonica
Laudamo, also includes the sublime Octet by Schubert.
