Francesco Libetta
There is something of the renaissance gentleman
in Francesco Libetta, who is knowledgeable about
music as well as literature and all other forms
of art. And is a great deal of the last century’s
virtuosi. Not only due to his vast repertoire,
but also thanks to his exceptional technical capability,
he is obliged to face increasingly difficult objectives
and regularly permitted to achieve them. Imagination,
originality, curiosity for everything that is
unusual, not normal, different, amusing: these
are the characteristics of Francesco Libetta’s
always surprising performances. In cooperation
with Naïve and with the Festival de La Roque
d’Anthéron, director Bruno Monsaingeon
has made a film and a DVD dedicated to his interpretations
and his figure as an artist, while Jonathan Tolansky
dedicated a reportage to him in the series “Soloist
of the Century” shown on the British TV
channel RTE. His CDs and videos are published
by Agorà (Italy) and VAI (United States).
His multiform career as a composer, a conductor
and pianist have taken Libetta to play in concerts
all over the world, and to receive commissions
from associations and Festivals in Europe, Japan
and American for orchestra, chamber and electro-acoustic
music. In 2005 he made an extremely successful
debut at the “A. Benedetti Michelangeli”
International Festival held in Brescia and Bergamo.
