Carlo Forni - Giuseppe Santagata
A Neapolitan piano duo that over ten years of
activity has proposed in concerts all original
scores for piano duets, but also old paraphrases
of work by Verdi, transcriptions of other important
20th century compositions as well as contemporary
music in absolute premiers. From the Goldberg
variations by Bach/Rheinberger to thee Variations
on a theme by Haydn by Brahms, and Parade by Satie,
to Debussy’s Six épigraphes antiques,
the Variations on a Theme by Paganini by Lutoslawski,
Carlo Forni and Giuseppe Santagata’s repertoire
also includes modern music, with the recording
of a CD for the book entitled Autoanalisi dei
compositori contemporanei (Flavio Pagano Editore).
There are also many theme projects; the most recent
includes all Mozart’s sonatas for piano
duets, presented often with great success during
Mozart’s Year in 2006. Their performance
of original versions for piano duets of the ballets
Petruška and The Rite of Spring by Stravinskij
are also extremely interesting. This last composition
has been recorded by the duo for Synthagma Music.
