The Arcadia Quartet
In the entirely Sicilian Arcadia Quartet flow
the various didactic and artistic experiences
of the four saxophonists who compose it; studies
with world famous maestros such as Daniel Deffayet,
Jean-Marie Londeix, Iwan Roth, Arno Bornkamp,
and Jean-Yves Fourmeau, their appearances at important
musical events The World Masterclass of Saxophone
– Sweden 1992, X World Saxophone Festival
- Pesaro 1992), and cooperation with orchestras
and opera houses (the San Carlo in Naples, the
Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Ente Lirico “Palestrina”
in Cagliari, the Bellini Theatre in Catania) and
led by conductors such as Mitslav Rostropovic,
George Pretre, Gabriele Ferro, Giuseppe Garbarino,
and Marcello Rota. With this wealthy artistic
baggage the quartet has been rewarded at international
competitions and has represented Italy at the
World Saxophone Festivals in Valencia, Montreal,
and Lubiana. Many important modern Italian composers
have written music for this ensemble, often the
guest of many concert societies. In 2006 the quartet
recorded the CD XXI-Italian Works from the 21st
Century for the SpazioMusica label.
