Grigory Sokolov
This event staring Grigory Sokolov is one not
to be missed. When he was only sixteen years old
and still a student, he won the “Cajkovskij”
Internationa Competition in Moscow thanks to his
artistic maturity. A litte later, when he made
his debut in the USA, Harold Schonberg wrote on
the New York Times: «He totally
dominates the piano… there is no doubt we
will hear a great seal more about this young talented
musician». The words of the most important
Ammerican critic were prophetic ones. Today Sokolov
is considered one of the greatest pianists of
our times and his concerts all over the world
are triumphal. Critics exalt the profoundness
of his interpretations, the originality and vastness
of his repertoire, his infinite technical domination,
his never-ending imagination and the beauty of
the sound. An artist in continuous evolution,
untiring in his research and studies, Sokolov’s
concert activities are mainly based on recitals,
although there are also events with prestigious
orchestras. In fact, in the course of his career,
he has played with over two hundred conductors
and with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic,
the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Münchner
Philharmoniker, the New York Philharmonic, la
Montreal Symphony, the Orchestra of the Teatro
alla Scala, and the Moscow and Saint Petersburg
Philharmonic Orchestra.
