The Maestros of the Beijing Opera

The name Maestros of the Beijing Opera is used within for international tours and festivals by the National Guo Guang Opera Company, founded in 1995 merging various theatre companies from the Beijing Opera and resident on the island of Formosa, today’s Taiwan. It was precisely in Taiwan in fact, that the great maestros from the Beijing Opera and their best students had taken refuge so as to escape the Cultural Revolution enacted by the Band of Four; here the worked to pass on to later generations this ancient art of theatre-music-dance. Exploiting al this experience, the Guo Guang Opera has managed to unite talented Mayr artists in one single body capable of preserving the classical tradition as well as exploring new artistic horizons. Performing very successfully all over Europe, in Russia and in many Italian cities, the theatre company presents a selections of the shows that made it famous all over the world, with dancers-actors and an ensemble of musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments.
