Compagnia Espanola de Ballet Flamenco

«Flamenco is an individual and rebellious scream that immobilises the body and releases the extremities, drawing within a symbolic circle the gestural expressiveness of the fire and bronze of the bailaores» (M. Guatterini). To the flamenco, synthesis and symbol of almost century-old intercultural characteristics, Seville has decided to devote a large museum (the largest exhibition space in Europe dedicated to dance) inaugurated in October 2006. Josè Greco, a member of the most prestigious Spanish dance family in the world and the heir to the great maestros of the past, comes from Andalusia, the land of flamenco. An artist gifted with a very individual talent and artistic temperament, together with his Compagnia Española de Ballet Flamenco, he presents a classic of undying fame: Bizet’s Carmen. A show that reflects the deepest roots and the passionate temperament of the Spanish people, an exciting journey in the heart of a culture in which magic, passion and the mysterious enchantment incarnated in the flamenco are exalted by the virtuoso elements, the technique, the sensuality and the talent of the dancers.
