Giuseppe Albanese
Called in April 2005 to replace at the very last
minute Louis Lortie in programme at the Filarmonica
Laudamo, Giuseppe Albanese was certainly not inferior
to his famous teacher and colleague, on the contrary
he literally conquered audiences in Messina with
the beauty of his interpretations (his rendition
of Bàartock’s Music of the Night
was perfect) and his artistic maturity, leaving
us with the memory of his strong personality and
his promise to return with other important piano
repertoires. Since then his career has become
increasingly successful. Recitals in Italy and
in Europe (the San Carlo in Naples, the Florentine
May Musical Festival, La Fenice in Venice, the
Opera in Rome, the Comunale in Bologna, the Konzerthaus
in Berlin, the Mozarteum in Saltsburg), and in
the USA (Metropolitan Museum in New York), Mexico
and South America, in Tel Aviv, at the Arab Music
Theatre in Cairo, and holding soloist concerts
with the orchestra conducted by James Conlon and
Alain Lombard. Giuseppe Albanese, who was born
in Calabria, trained with great teachers at the
“Incontri col Maestro” Piano Academy
in, the city in which he now lives.
