Eliot Fisk

In 1996 Eliot Fisk recorded an exclusive as requested by M.me Emilia Segovia, her husband’s previously unpublished compositions. This recording too entered the Billboard charts, as did other recordings by the maestro. His recording of Leo Balada’s Concierto Magico, with the Barcelona Orchestra conducted by Josè Serebrier, was included among the ten best CDs for the year 2001 by Amazon. About Bach’s Sonatas and Scores for solo violin (in Frisk’s transcription for the guitar) Time Magazine wrote: «This recording will dazzle violinists and discourage guitarists». And he is already a historical figure with his CD recorded for DGG with the Sequenza for guitar that Luciano Berio dedicated to him. The artistic merits acquired during his long and intense international career won him the “Cross of Saint Isabel the Catholic”, hence the highest possible award bestowed by the King of Spain, previously only awarded to two musicians: André Segovia and Yehudi Menuhin. A professor at the Saltsburg Mozarteum and at the New England Conservatory in America, the founder and artists director for the “Boston Guitar Fest”, Eliot Fisk plays with Ute Lemper, Burhan Öchan, Joe Pass, Lucero Tena, and often plays in a duo with the famous Spanish guitarist Paco Peña.
