The Savinio Quartet and Sandro Cappelletto

Vienna 1785, Domgasse, the Mozart residence. On February 11th Leopold arrives to visit his son for the first time. He seems to be ready to forgive him his imprudent marriage and his break with Saltsburg; he appears benevolent as far as his new friends are concerned and shows appreciation for his professional triumphs, although he does express some criticism («I assume he has a beautiful apartment since it costs him 480 florins!»). In the afternoon Wolfgang holds a concert. «Incomparable, excellent, many important personalities attended», says his father. On Saturday 12th the Mozarts stay at home with their close friends Franz Joseph Haydn and the two von Tinti Barons. Wolfgang has just finished composing six quartets for strings. He shows them and then picks up the viola, Haydn takes the violin, and the others make up the group. They will play music throughout the evening, throughout the night… in a dialogue of souls in search of Beauty and Truth. The events of this extraordinary night are told by Sandro Cappelletto, music critic, radio and TV journalist, and an appreciated author of musicological texts. He is accompanied in the journey to the land of Mozart by the Savinio Quartet, whose increasingly successful artistic career has been marked by important international awards.
