Alessio Bax
After graduating brilliantly from the Conservatory
at the age of 14,, he then received an Honours
Diploma from the Chigiana in Siena, and a scholarship
that allowed him to improve his knowledge in the
USA with Jaoquin Achucarro. Still not twenty years
old, he won the Hamamatsu International Piano
Competition in Japan. Since then he has won innumerable
awards at international competitions, among them
Leeds, in 2000, which provided him with an opportunity
to play with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra
conducted by Simon Rattle. He now performs as
a soloist with the London Philharmonic and the
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony,
l’Orchestre National de Lille, the Matav
Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, the Huston Symphony
and all the most important Italian orchestras.
His CDs, recorded since 2004 exclusively for Warner
Classic, have been selected by Gramophone
and Classical FM Magazine. His most
recent recording, with the unabridged version
for piano and orchestra by Robert and Clara Schumann,
was made with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted
by Larry Foster. Alessio Bax teaches at the Meadows
School of the Arts at Dallas University, often
returning to Europe. In July 2007 he received
an invitation to the Verbier Festival and now
he inaugurates this 87th concert season of the
Filarmonica Laudamo with a recital of
music by Brahms and Rachmaninov.
