The Esperia Ballet
«Pure dance and sinuous bodies: on stage
the art of the Esperia Ballet and Paolo Mohovic,
who know how to create ever new variations of
academic language designing in space shapes and
movements without stereotypes» (La Repubblica).
«It is the intensity of gestures, created
by Paolo Mohovic on the well-trained bodies of
his dancers, that is the stylistic characteristic
of a company capable of elaborating (neo) classical
patterns in an increasingly contemporary and suggestive
form of expression, with a precise technique that
never seems a virtuoso display but a necessary
understandable form of communication» (Prove
Aperte). These were the enthusiastic comments
that greeted each production presented by the
Esperia Ballet, formed by eight soloist dancers,
almost all Spanish and coming from other experiences
with prestigious European companies. There are
now many titles in the Esperia Ballet’s
repertoire, each bearing the imprint of an extremely
refined osmosis between the plasticity of the
bodies on the stage, the suggestion of the music
(both classical and non), and the wise use of
multimedia effects. Mozart Aqva, performed
in all the most important theatres in Europe and
in America, is a perfect example of fusion between
dance and images, the “aquatic sounds”
elaborated by Giuseppe Zambon, and the most beautiful
melodies from Mozart’s concerts.
