Pietro De Maria
During the 2006-7 season, Pietro De Maria started
to work of a beautiful and wide-ranging musical
project: all Chopin’s music for the piano
presented within a series of six concerts which
follow the chronological order in which the music
was composed following a criteria already adopted
by a historical interpreter such as Nikita Magaloff.
This project was not only welcomed in its entirety
by the main Italian concert societies, but is
also being recorded as a series of CDs for Decca,
the first of which has already been welcomed with
great enthusiasm by critics. «This is an
integral Chopin on which one should place a bet.
De Maria proves he has a personality of rare romantic
depth: rigorous in his interpretation, incandescent
in his performance… It is however the entire
performance that affects one with the freshness
of the expressions, the effervescent ideas, the
technical light-heartedness (Angelo Foletto).
Even before this project on Chopin was completed,
Pietro De Maria ahad played at the Filarmonica
Laudamo a number of extremely important pages
of Chpoin literature, such as the two collections
of Studies and the Ballad op. 38. He
now returns with another important cycle, that
of the Preludes composed over a period
of time going from 1832 to 1839, a framework within
which all the pieces of his current recital
are included.
