Carla Bley - Steve Swallow - Andy Sheppard - Billy Drummond -
Paolo Fresu

An extraordinary event with the quartet The Lost Chords formed by Carla Bley, Andy Sheppard, Steve Swallow and Billy Drummond meeting Paolo Fresu. While she was writing new music for her group Carla Bley, one of jazz world’s most eclectic personalities and the undisputed lady of international avant-garde, listened to Paolo Fresu’s trumpet: it was «elegant and eloquent, earthly and yet ethereal». Hence the idea of asking Fresu to tour with The Lost Chords. This project is today a magical evening during which it will be possible to listen to Bley’s splendid compositions counter pointed by solo performances by the great Fresu, with the fantastic flights of Andy Sheppard’s sax, the virtuosos of Bill Drummond, and Steve Swallow’s now legendary sound. Carla Bley “The Lost Chords” find Paolo Fresu is one of contemporary music’s cutting edges, with complex and articulate, refined and ironical compositions, ranging from swing tonalities with touches of the Charleston to funky, in search of avant-garde paths also in the most forgotten music of the past.
