The Archimede Quartet
Born in 1999 as the result of an encounter between
four Sicilian musicians, trained by the most authoritative
string instrument interpreters and teachers, the
Archimede Quartet is nowadays able to present
a repertoire including the masterpieces of camber
music from all eras. Having won many national
and international awards, this group has performed
at the Emilia Romagna Festival, at the Settimane
Musicali Bresciane, the Ost-West Musik Fest, the
Festivals of Ljubljana, Genoa, Nancy, Estoril,
and Nafliono. The quartet has toured all of Europe,
Egypt and Mexic and made recordings for Mediaset,
Classico, Dauphine-Italia, The Vatican Radio,
Phoenix, and Dynamic. The specialised press wrote
the following about the Archimede Quartet: «These
musicians are sophisticated interpreters presenting
us with slow sighs, phrasing capable of proving
beautiful effects, powerful and yet always soft
and controlled sonorities…» (L’Est
Républicain). At the Filarmonica Laudamo
we will hear two of some of the most beautiful
pieces of chamber music from the Classical-Romantic
era: Mozart’s quartet entitled “The
Hunt” and Schubert’s “Death
and the Maiden”.
