The Parma Wind Instruments - Claudio Paradiso

The great romantic serenades is one of the many thematic programmes played by the Fiati di Parma, an ensemble founded in 1990 by flute player Claudio Paradiso who still directs the group. This ensemble is characterised by the stability of the artistic nucleus, the skilfulness of its members (the best instrumentalists in today’s Italian musical world), and the interpretative choices. Exploring literature that until recently could have seemed limited and also concentrated over a short period of time, the Fiati di Parma have instead rediscovered pages that are extremely interesting, and their repertoire now includes original compositions for wind instruments amounting by over one hundred ancient and modern composer as well as contemporary music commissioned specifically for the group. At The Laudamo Philharmonic they appear with the addition of a number of string instruments to play the evergreen pieces of romantic music for wind instruments such as the Serenade in D minor op. 44 by Antonín Dvorák and the Serenade in A major op. 16 by Johannes Brahms, after recording them for the Amadeus Label with a CD that has sold over one hundred thousand copies.
