The Corelli
Conservatory Wind Instrument Orchestrai - Lino
Blanchod
During its ten years of life, the Corelli Conservatory
Wind Instrument Orchestra, founded in 1998, has
held many concerts collecting standing ovations,
it has played premier performances of music at
time specifically composed for it and has recorded
two CDs (Fantasia Romantica in 2000 and Memories
in 2002) per le Edizioni Scomegna label. With
its over seventy elements, all students, trainees
and professors at the Messina Conservatory, the
orchestra has the size of a real symphonic one
in which all types of wooden and brass instruments
are present as well as the piano, keyboard, harp,
percussions and double bass. Its vast repertoire
includes both transcriptions of important symphonic
and opera passages as well as original pieces
for Symphonic Bands by contemporary composers.
The orchestra has been conducted by maestros such
as Giuseppe Ratti and Roberto Giuliani, who led
its first appearances in the Italian musical world.
Today this orchestra is ready to take part in
international competitions. With its new conductor
Lino Blanchod, from the Val d’Aosta, in
the spring of 2009 it will take part in Spain
in the most important competition for wind instrument
orchestras. It will then return for the third
time to the Laudamo Philharmonic Orchestra, with
a brand new programme that will certainly enchant
the audiences.
