Hamburg Strings Sextet

This is a very new group of very young musicians performing chamber music that is among the most refined and the most difficult to play. The members of the Hamburg String Sextet, who come from Germany, the Ukraine, Bulgaria and Italy, are all also soloists active on the European scene and all winners of international competitions. They all boast experience with chamber music groups and have work with musicians as important as Karl Leister, David Geringas, Joerg Demus, Yehudi and Jeremy Menuhin. For their debut in Sicily they have prepared a very interesting programme. In addition to Brahm’s masterpiece, the Sextet in B Flat major op. 18 for strings, there is also the delightful Overture from the Capriccio, the last piece composed by Richard Strauss, and the Sextet in D major op. 10 by Eric Wolfgang Korngold, an early 20th Century Austrian composer, naturalised American, whose music has today unjustly vanished from our concert halls.
