Inspired by the reverdie (lyrical arias celebrating
the return of spring) the laReverdie
ensemble was founded in 1986 by two pairs of sisters
who were singers and instrumentalists, to explore
the musical repertoire from the Late Middle Ages
to the end of the 14th Century. The objective
was not to meticulously catalogue archaeological
finds, but rather to faithfully reproduce them
with loving loyalty respecting the music, the
texts and the ideology, so that those listening
might perceive this repertoire as living fragments
of a past but not lost culture. Today this ensemble
boasts a number of recordings multi-rewarded with
the Choc de la Musique, eight Diapason
d’Or Awards, 10 Repertoire Awards,
fff Télérama, A for Amadeus,
but also partnerships with artists such as Franco
Battiato and Moni Ovadia. Both in recordings and
in concerts laReverdie prefers thematic programmes.
The programme presented for the Laudamo Philharmonic
is especially beautiful, with Insula feminarum.
Medieval echoes of Celtic femininity, with
vocal and instrumental incursions in the world
of Provence, in the laud books and in the Italian
Ars Nova as well as early French-Burgandian Humanism.
