Mattia Zappa and Massimiliano Mainolfi
Cellist Mattia Zappa and the pianist Massimiliano
Mainolfi met when they were studying at the Julliard
School, and it was in the classrooms of this prestigious
American institution that their instrumental duo
was formed. They made their debut immediately
art the Lincoln Center in New York, participating
in the Chamber Music Evenings in the Alice Tully
Hall. During their education this duo studied
under Felix Galimir, Gérard Wyess, Steven

The duo then won important international competitions
such as the “Viotti” in Vercelli”
(2000), the “Gui” in Florence (2001),

on a number of occasions. After holding their

in 2001, Mattia Zappa and Massimiliano Mainolfi
were invited by Deutschland-Radio to play at the
Berlin Philharmonic’s Kammermusiksaal, in
