Midori and Charles Abramovic
The Japanese violinist Midori, famous all over
the world for the mastery of her interpretations
and the generosity with which she gives audiences
an instrumental expertise matured in the course
of a career that has led her to perform with the
greatest conductors and the most famous soloists,
is certainly an important presence in the programme
of the Laudamo Philharmonic . Achieving fame as
an enfant prodige, she is today particularly active
in promoting musical education through a non-profit
organisation that bears her name. Midori plays
on all the five continents both in recitals and
as a soloist with orchestras such as the Berliner
Philharmoniker, the New York Philharmonic, the
Orchestre de Paris, the BBC, the London Symphony,
and she has an exclusive recording contract with
Sony Classical. Her artistic versatility is also
confirmed by today’s programme. In a duo
with pianist Charles Abramovic she traces a musical
route that from Bach leads to modern times with
Fratres, the piece for violin that revealed to
the musical world the genius of Arvo Pärt.
Midori plays a 1735 Guarnieri del Gesù,
ex-Huberman, entrusted to her perpetually by the
Hayashibara Foundation.
