Orchestra
del Teatro Vittorio Emanuele - Salvatore Piercacciolo
From the musical band in his village (Mirto, in
the province of Messina), to the most prestigious
Italian and European venues, the career of young
Salvatore Percacciolo represents an encouragement
for all young musicians who work seriously. Having
graduated brilliantly in piano studies at the
Corelli Conservatory, Salvatore Percacciolo specialised
with Paul Badura-Skoda at the Liszt Academy in
Weimar and has won many piano competitions. He
made his debut as a conductor after studying with
Piero Bellugi, Donato Renzetti, Bruno Bartoletti,
and with Jorma Panula at the Fiesole School of
Music where he won the prestigious Carlo Maria
Giulini Award. He has performed with many national
and foreign orchestras, among them the Camerata
Strumentale in Prato, the Pescarese Symphonic
Orchestra, the ‘Pomeriggi Musicali’
in Milan, the Orchestra della Normale in Pisa,
the Rivafestival International Orchestra, the
Cadaquès Symphonic Orchestra in Spain,
and the Quadrivium Ensemble in Venice. Alberto
Veronesi, the Permanent Conductor for the Sicilian
Symphonic Orchestra, chose him as his assistant
entrusting to him various productions. In 2007
he was appointed the musical director of the Giovine
Orchestra Calabrese. His most recent success dates
to the summer of 2008 at the Festival Pucciniano
in Torre del Lago, where he conducted Madam
Butterfly.
