Cristina Zavalloni - Andrea Rebaudengo

Cristina the Divine, a curious explorer of the universe of the voice, Cristina Zavalloni is on one hand Cathy Berberian’s heir and on the other Callas’. She shares with both of them her interpretive intensity, her versatility, her vocal range, eclecticism and her passion for the less popular repertoires, both ancient and modern. A muse of the avant-garde, last June she performed in a world premier in Amsterdam in the role of Dante Alighieri in Louis Andriessen’s Commedia, a film-opera in five acts of which she has recorded the inspiring theme, Racconto dall’Inferno, for the DGG label with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Reinbert de Leeuw, winning the presigious Diapasos d’Or 2006. In a duo with Andrea Rebaudengo, her partner in art and in life, she presents at the Laudamo Philharmonic an intriguing programme centred on the “bad boys” who changed the history of 20th Century music such as Satie, Stravinskij, Milhaud, and the unjustly forgotten pianist-composer George Antheil, the composer of futuristic sonatas for the piano and the author of amusing memoirs, the title of which, Bad Boys, is precisely that of today’s concert.
