Plamen Djurov - Sofia Chamber Music Orchestra
Since its debut in March 1962 the Sofia Chamber
Music Orchestra, which is a strings only orchestra,
has been the guest of all the most important institutions
in Europe, North and South America, Korea, China
and Japan. In addition to the over three thousand
concerts held, the Orchestra also has a large
catalogue of recordings with over sixty titles
produced for the BMG, Denon, Decca, Harmonia Mundi,
Columbia, Saba and Gega New labels. This ensemble,
as well as having presented in premier performances
about one hundred of the most important musical
compositions by the most important Bulgarian composers,
most of which are dedicated to this orchestra,
has also worked with artists such as Henrik Szering,
Heinz Holliger, Daniil Shafran, Nikanor Zabaleta,
Patriche Gallois, and Nigel Kennedy. Led by its
Permanent Conductor Plamen Djurov, at the Laudamo
Philharmonic this orchestra will play famous and
popular pieces such as the Serenade in C major
op 48 by Cajkovskij, Rumanian Dances by Bartók,
and Respighi’s Ancient dances and arias
for the lute. A novelty for audiences is instead
the instrumental suite from Don Chisciotte, a
theatrical work by Georg Philipp Telemann, one
of the greats of the German baroque.
