Daniil Trifonov

Daniil Trifonov was born on 1991 in a small country town three hundred kilometres from Moscow and began to play the piano at the age of five, with no teacher or method. His precocious talent was discovered by chance by a member of the Guzik Foundation in San Francisco, a meritorious institution that sponsors the international careers of young artists. Thanks to support provided by this foundation, he was able to enrol in the Gnessin School in Moscow, which admits only very young and particularly gifted musicians. Although he has not yet completed his academic education, Dannil Trifonov has won international awards and been invited to important festivals as well as performing as a soloist with great symphonic orchestras. In October 2008, he will make his debut with the Siberian Symphonic Orchestra, playing the Third Concert by Prokof’ev. He will return to Italy in the spring of 2009 for a series of concerts with a programme including the great virtuosi, from the Mephisto-Waltz by Franz Liszt to the Quadri di un’esposizione by Modest Musorgskij, and the sound universes of Beethoven, Schubert and Chopin.
